Clay Figurine, Windsong Tapia (Pojoaque Pueblo)

Pojoaque Pueblo ceramicist Windsong Tapia is brand new to the pottery medium. She learned this form by taking classes at the Poeh Arts Program. This was her third class in the Black on Black pottery. She uses traditional Pueblo high polish/matte black on black reductive firing technique to emphasize the textural change in the mane and hoofs with the hide of this charming, three-dimensional clay buffalo figurine.

Acquired 9/2002
