Silver Bracelet, Lucy Yearflower Tafoya (Santa Clara Pueblo)

Renowned Santa Clara potter Lucy Tafoya is now getting known for anther type of medium. She uses three dimensional sterling silver convex planes on the outer surface of her bracelet to establish an architectural relationship of a pot’s neck to it’s shoulder. This potter’s sensibility is further refined in the use of a wave or lightning type motif zigzagging along one of the architectural spaces of the piece, in contrast to a delicate, cuttlefish like background texture.
