In 2001, with a generous $78,450 from the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps, the Poeh Cultural Center and Museum was able to complete the Museum’s entryway and assist with the rough and finish work for the recently opened Collections Gallery. The grant allowed the Poeh Center to hire a construction crew of Northern New Mexico youths and train them in traditional construction methods. Together with the Pueblo of Pojoaque Construction Services Corporation, they did rough and finish plasterwork, flagstone flooring, installed museum quality lighting, and completed door installation throughout the new Poeh Museum Building.
The Poeh Museum was also able to use this funding as a federal match to a $109,000 award from the National Endowment for the Humanities, funding HVAC, fire suppression and security systems in the Collections Storage Gallery.
